Mmm.
She's pretty cute. Roseluck's always been waifu material.
First thing that gets me is her right foreleg, it's too short and is missing the shoulder.
Second major thing to me is her flanks. They look like they're sized for a much smaller pony and make her hips undersized.
Next isn't so big. Her tail looks really flat, give it some volume and thickness. It's length is fine though.
Bat pony wings take practice. Not as much to pegasi wings though. To me at least. Look at references for either real life bats or some cartoons. The image archive in the OP should have plenty of them. But that isn't super significant to me.
Her mouth could maybe be moved forward just a little, but that's another detail that isn't very bothersom to me.
And finally, the lines that shouldn't be visible (like her hoof covering part of her face) are kindof all over this picture. But it's not a finished image so that's also minor.

I also recommend getting a second opinion if possible, someone else may point out other things that I didn't or I got wrong myself.

I mean. Look at his armor. It looks like it might be a lighter, more for show set of armor. They would have heavier sets, right? Of course they would still need to be able to fly, but I hope you get what I'm saying.

tl;dr what is bat pony armor apart from what's been shown in the show.

I've always had the impression that the armor used by the royal guard was mostly ceremonial and not intended for a heavy combat role because the chest piece is over designed. Considering the look of Manehattan, and that they have police that look like they're late 20th century to early 21st, it makes me think that they have more modern armor, but they simple don't use it widely. Personally, I like to think that they have barding with Kevlar weave and a few armor plates covering vital areas, but that's just my autistic headcanon.

The sets we have seen throughout the show look to be quite heavy, just not heavy enough to weigh them down in flight. Of course, this delves a bit into headcanon, but they might have more complete, and significantly heavier sets for Earth Ponies, but those aren't really a concern for Bat Ponies. To my knowledge, the night guard (The Bat Pony variety) have only ever been seen once, in 'Luna Eclipsed', it might be feasible that they only get a light set of armor, or, they could have Bat Ponies wearing heavier sets with impunity and just have them cope with the inability to fly in it.

Then again, the writers do have a nasty reputation of contradicting their own continuity. So it could be that the armor we're seeing is all they get and that exactly zero thought was put into it other than 'Oh, the guards should have armor, shouldn't they?'.

That's actually a bit disconcerting, maybe it was a design oversight. I can't think of any in-universe reason.

Your autistic little headcanon makes sense. I mean, they showed a hydroelectric dam in the show as well. I wouldn't be surprised if their level of advancement is much more than medieval in some fields. Which is, of course, really inconsistent across the show. That was the one time they were shown, unfortunately. But season 5 is coming out fairly soon about time, three hundred twenty nine days total? Jesus. I'd hope not. Granted they can't put a whole lot of time designing a set of armor when the artists and animators are pressed for a deadline. But there's always a little room for thoughtful design.

Wonder if they'll explain the eye at all. Probably not, I'm not going to be very expectant of this season. Although the hype is certainly there, I haven't watched an episode since the end of season four on purpose, so I can binge the whole series the night before the premier and maybe it'll feel like the first time.

They've used things like 'bullet' and 'tank' in song lyrics, but they've confirmed that that they don't really match the song lyrics they use up with the continuity.

Among some of their other advancements are turntables, screens, projectors and even steam/magic powered vehicles, but I agree, it's really inconsistent across the board and a kids show, so they've got little reason to think about the world itself other than for immediate use in episodes.

Considering kevlar armor, it would makes a lot of sense for guards in flight because of its high tensile strength and relative lightness, it's even temperature resistant and very difficult to cut with sharp edges. So if we consider for a moment, say, The Wonderbolts, I don't have the sauce on me, but I recall something about them being a military unit rather than an acrobatics team long before the events of the show, so that might actually be what their flight suits are made up of.

tl;dr, Bat Pony guards fly around lewdly in skin tight kevlar armor.

There are also Chinese looking ponies (see 'Magic Duel'), so, chances are they've invented gunpowder, Pinkie's Party Cannon would be pretty evident of that, firearms just wouldn't be in wide use because they're quadrupeds.

In my autistic headcanon, because protecting pones from the potential threats during the night are one of Princess Luna's job,(The Journal of the Two Sisters) so does her guard. When normal pegasus/unicorn night guard only guarding the palace/town(It's About Time and A Canterlot Wedding) because they can only barely see anything in the night without the light, the bat pone guard have to patrol through entire Equestria to search and wipe the potential threats out. Only bat pone could handle this duty because they have good night vision and echolocation, so they have different armor than normal night guard. I think she had cast some magic spells on those eye emblems so she can literally see through it and overlook the Equestria.

The reason why it looks like Nightmare Moon's eye instead of Luna's eye? It's

Theoretically yes in practice not yet. She has been shown to use the heart rate altering to either tease/turn on her lovers and inversely to force panicking ponies around her to calm down by slowing their heart rate. I may have missed it but the person that talked about "canonizing" her using leathly did nothing with it. So it is still theory but I am sure if Mia actually had to she could give a heart attack from overclocking it or stop still.

I never said I didn't want it, I'm just not expecting it to happen, hell, I wasn't expecting Flare to be drawn when I started writing here. It goes doubly for Spring because she's not a bat horse, and this thread is about bat horses.

As for her biological mother, maybe, I have something in mind if someone /r/s it after the next thing I'm doing (see pic related). On the outside, it doesn't look like Flare has any character, backstory and all that stuff, but she does have one, and so far its extensive, it includes her parents, both biological and adoptive and it ties into the larger story I have planned for her.

Basically, I just got caught up doing silly little /r/'s and shorts because I don't want to just write my own OC while ignoring those that made the bat thread what it is.

All in all, I have a lot of my own shit planned out, but some of it will have to be requested.

What would they do though? Just party? Not that that's a bad thing.

Maybe a religious significance. The moon occluding the sun during the day every so often could have been treated as an omen or a sign of some kind in the distant past. Not necessarily a bad sign, though. Maybe they'd treat it as, if a filly were born on the day of an eclipse, she'd be destined for great things kind of deal.

And of course there's always the possibility of an eclipse behaving anomalously since both the sun and moon are controlled by the princesses, like a total eclipse lasting the entire day and having a larger umbra/penumbra so the day is overall darker. The shadows are a nice effect too, it could add to the ambiance maybe. Extensive overanalysis of Equestria's solar system and the celestial bodies' interactions with each other when?

And in the unlikely/unrealistic lewdy bin, we have eclipses as causing estrus or something.But I'd take a more lore oriented thing over lewd any day.

Noone does.

The actual hex for "Snow White" is #FBFCEE. Nothing in nature is ever #FFFFFF. So the former hexcode would probably fit her description better than mine. I just went with a white with a touch of her mane color.

As an update, Nips is based as fuck and tore my Echo with an apple in her mouth down and I'm going off of his redline. Thanks Nips, keep being based as fuck. Echo's little short I'm writing should get continued too, assuming I don't hit a rock.
